Lesson 95. Vocative Case: Addressing Someone

The Vocative (Vokativ) is the case of address: we use it when we call or speak to someone. In Russian, it almost disappeared, but in Serbian it is alive and used everywhere.

Examples

Ana → Ano! (Ана → Ано!)
— Ana!
Petar → Petre! (Петар → Петре!)
— Petar!
mama → mamo! (мама → мамо!)
— Mama!
brat → brate! (брат → брате!)
— Brother!
sestra → sestro! (сестра → сестро!)
— Sister!
gospodin → gospodine! (господин → господине!)
— Mister!
