Lesson 200. The Finale: I know Serbian!

You have finished 200 lessons. A whole school year is behind you. Let’s look at everything you can do now.

What you know

  • Two alphabets: Latin and Cyrillic — you switch between them freely.
  • Phonetics: all the special letters (č, ć, š, ž, đ, dž, lj, nj, j), stress, and syllabic r.

Učim srpski jezik već godinu dana. (Учим српски језик већ годину дана.)
— I have been learning Serbian for a year already.
U početku je bilo teško — dva alfabeta, puno padeža. (У почетку је било тешко — два алфабета, пуно падежа.)
— At first it was hard — two alphabets, lots of cases.
Ali sada razumem knjige, pesme i razgovore. (Али сада разумем књиге, песме и разговоре.)
— But now I understand books, songs, and conversations.
Mogu da pitam za put, kupim hleb, ispričam o svojoj porodici. (Могу да питам за пут, купим хлеб, испричам о својој породици.)
— I can ask for directions, buy bread, and tell about my family.
Srpski jezik je lep i bogat. Drago mi je što sam ga naučio. (Српски језик је леп и богат. Драго ми је што сам га научио.)
