Lesson 42. Verbs Ending in -em (pisati, piti)
The third major type — -em verbs. This one is the most “tricky”: many verbs change their stem.
Pattern: pisati (to write)

See — in piti, a j appears: piti → pijem. Also: jesti → jedem, ići → idem.

znati → znam (tipa -am!) (знати → знам (тип -am!))

In speech
Pišem pismo. (Пишем писмо.)
— I write a letter.
Pijemo čaj. (Пијемо чај.)
— (We) drink tea.
Idem u školu. (Идем у школу.)
— I'm going to school.
Jedeš hleb? (Једеш хлеб?)
— Are you eating bread?
Hoću sladoled. (Хоћу сладолед.)
— I want ice cream.
